Lake City Heat Treating Corporation

Leader in Hot Isostatic Pressing and Vacuum Heat Treating

Lake City Heat Treating specializes in Vacuum Heat Treating of Stainless Steels, Cobalt and Nickel Alloys, and Vacuum Heat Treatable Steels. LCHT also provides Tempering, Cryogenic, and Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) services. In March of 1983, two of our founders traveled to Pennsylvania to purchase a vacuum furnace. This vacuum furnace is still hard at work today and has surpassed 44,000 loads processed.

Our growth has brought us to operate seven vacuum furnaces, two Hot Isostatic Presses and three air furnaces.

In 1995, our capabilities and customer service brought emerging interest from the aerospace industry. Today we are proud to say that we are Nadcap Accredited. This is the approval required by many aerospace industry manufacturers. It reflects the quality and superior performance delivered by Lake City Heat Treating.

Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.”

Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIPping or HIP)

Lake City Heat Treating offers the latest technology in Hot Isostatic Pressing, also known as HIP or HIPping. Our isostatic presses offer both the advantages of high pressure and high speed quench rates approximating that of vacuum cooling systems.

Lake City Heat Treating’s HIP systems feature an advanced uniform rapid cooling capability. This capability dramatically reduces the processing time for each HIP cycle, increasing throughput and lowering costs.

Our Hot Isostatic Presses can reach temperatures of 2,285 degrees F and pressures up to 30,000 PSI. Our load capacity is 18.5″ in diameter and 56″ in length with a maximum weight of 800 pounds. Our rapid cooling rates are 175-200 degrees per minute with a 750-800 pound load.

Vacuum Heat Treating for Medical, Aerospace and Other Industries

Lake City Heat Treating provides aerospace heat-treating, medical heat-treating and other state-of-the-art vacuum heat treating services for quality critical industries. Stainless steel tempering and other bright processing is also available. Our quality standards and continual process improvement efforts led us to receiving accreditation by the National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program (Nadcap).

We’re not for everybody.

LCHT specializes in vacuum heat treating/bright processing of stainless steel including hardening, tempering, annealing and precipitation hardening. This concentration of effort and expertise has enabled us to produce a product of superior quality that continually achieves excellent surface characteristics for subsequent passivation and polishing. As a result, our customers have eliminated additional cleaning and polishing operations after heat treatment.

We also perform high quality heat treatment of nickel and cobalt alloys, titanium and air hardening tool steels. A new vacuum furnace is now available at Lake City Heat Treating Corp., bringing the company’s vacuum heat-treating line to seven. This new furnace features “6 BAR” capabilities with a variable speed 200HP cooling blower. The VFS Model HIQ3836-6 furnace can achieve vacuums of 10-6 torr and process temperatures up to 2400°F with a work load size up to 24” x 24” x 36”. With this new furnace, LCHT now offers nitrogen as well as argon quench.  With these new capabilities, it allows LCHT to process customer requirements to exact specifications.
