The 2025 recipients of APMI International’s 2025 Fellow Award are Christopher Adam, PMT, president, Valimet, Inc., and Dr. Ma Qian, distinguished professor, Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.

The group’s most prestigious award recognizes APMI members for their significant contributions to the goals, purpose, and mission of the organization as well as for an elevated level of expertise in the technology, practice, or business of the industry. The 2025 Fellow Award recipients received elevation to Fellow status in June.
Adam has led a diversified career working with graphite, iron, copper, and aluminum powders. Throughout his career, he has been committed to educating others on the importance and potential applications that can be achieved through powder metallurgy. This includes outreach and mentoring of high school and college-age students. Adam has created and presented seminars on various industries that have adopted powder metallurgy. A 34-year member of APMI, he helped to create the APMI Fellow Award program while serving on the Board of Directors.

Recognized for his outstanding contributions in the field of powder metallurgy and additive manufacturing of light metals and alloys, Qian’s work has significantly expanded the knowledge in these areas and has led to extended applications of PM and AM. He actively contributes to APMI and the broader PM and AM communities by initiating and organizing key conferences in these fields. Qian has a strong history of mentoring the next generation of professionals in PM and AM, with many of his mentees becoming prominent academic researchers, successful entrepreneurs in metal injection molding (MIM), and corporate team leaders.
