Burner Design & Control’s parts focus is on burners, flame sensors, flame safeguards, shut-off valves, control valves, and any other components needed in the industrial combustion market.

Burner Design & Control (BDC) focuses exclusively on the industrial combustion market. It prides itself on the extensive knowledge and experience its service, engineering, and sales teams have within this market. Customers come to BDC whenever they are faced with a combustion-related need.

BDC serves a variety of industries, including finishing, heat treating, aluminum and steel production, food and beverage, asphalt and cement, grain drying, power generation, and midstream oil and gas.

BDC offers three main tiers to the market: parts, engineering, and service. BDC is a Honeywell Platinum distributor for the HTS brands (Honeywell Combustion, Eclipse, Maxon, Hauck, and Kromschroder).

The company’s parts focus is on burners, flame sensors, flame safeguards, shut-off valves, control valves, actuators, fuel/air ratio controls, temperature controls, RTDs, PLCs, regulators, flow meters, and any other components needed in the industrial combustion market.

BDC has a team of more than 25 field service technicians throughout the Midwest and mountain west regions that focuses on annual inspections, NFPA inspections, burner tuning, installation/commissioning, break-fix, troubleshooting, and 24/7 emergency services.

Lastly, BDC’s engineered-to-order group can design any burner system, controls, fuel trains, panels, or duct sections a customer might need. BDC has an experienced team of engineers who have spent their careers in the combustion space that can meet the most challenging of application requirements.

BDC’s combination of exclusively focusing on industrial combustion and its size makes it unique. The majority of its more than 60 employees has extensive industrial combustion experience. Typically, as companies grow to this size, they start to branch into other industries and dilute their technical expertise.

However, BDC’s field service business has grown substantially in recent years due to its vast combustion knowledge of both its field service technicians and its internal engineering staff that supports them. BDC supplies thorough documentation after its visits and keeps detailed records of any equipment worked on.

BDC also has begun working with companies trying to reduce carbon emissions, especially in Colorado where there is a state-driven carbon reduction program (GEMM1 & GEMM2).

BDC was founded in 1946. It was originally a manufacturer’s representative for Eclipse Fuel Engineering and Rockwell Heat Treating Furnaces. The Eastern Missouri/Southern Illinois trade area was in the middle of an industrial growth period at the time, and BDC flourished as a result. Several product lines were added during those early years, such as temperature control instruments. BDC has locations in St. Louis, Missouri; Kansas City, Missouri; and Denver, Colorado.

BDC plans to expand its service and engineering offerings nationwide as it continues to see a decline in industrial combustion expertise across the industry.
