Tenova, a leading company in sustainable solutions for the green transition of the metals industry, received a new contract for the supply of a decarburization and coating line (DCL) from VIZ-Stal (NLMK Group), for its plant in Ekaterinburg, Russia. The contract was awarded through its company Tenova LOI Thermprocess, a worldwide leader for industrial furnace plants, based in Essen.

With strong cooperation between Tenova’s competence centers for heat-treatment furnaces and strip processing, Tenova LOI Thermprocess and Tenova Italimpianti, this new line will provide one of the important stages of grain-oriented (GO) electrical strip production; steel final processing will be carried out at a newly-built plant located in India. The contract includes the engineering, the supply, and the supervision services of the mechanical and process equipment, the heat-treatment portion (furnace system) as well as the related electrical, measuring and control systems for a decarburization and coating line.

Tenova’s efforts in the research and development of these technologies, together with its collaboration in the relation with the clients, are the key factors of its success.

“We are very pleased for this new order which confirms the reliability of the leading Tenova technology and underlines our strategic partnership with NLMK and VIZ-Stal,” said Peter Wendt, vice president of Tenova LOI Thermprocess. “The NLMK Group is one of our most faithful clients with more than ten orders over the past 15 years. The new DCL Line will ensure the highest surface and best magnetic properties required by the market. Tenova holds the right expertise and solutions to fulfill the needs of its clients both for its technological offer and its reliability in assisting and developing the projects together with its customers.”

“NLMK selected Tenova on the basis of the large number of references for similar heat-treatment lines,” said Valery Shevelev, general director of silicon production at NLMK Group. “The short execution time is another important factor that led us to choose Tenova as partner for this project. The DCL Line is scheduled to start production by the end of 2021.”
