Mechanical Engineer

Single full or part time position for experienced mechanical engineer to work on custom built heat treating furnace equipment.


  • Assist with design of industrial heat processing equipment
  • Perform thermal expansion and heat transfer, fluid flow and mechanical drive calculations
  • Provide oversight and review of drawings for various piping systems (combustion, cooling, atmosphere, pneumatics, etc.) of custom heat treat furnaces in accordance with contract specifications
  • Specify components for purchasing department. Review and/or maintain project Bill of Materials
  • Contribute substantially to project throughout workflow stages including design/ build/ install / training/ maintenance
  • Provide internal and customer support by phone and/or in person for equipment questions and issues, identify possible sources of disruption og equipment functionality and provide troubleshooting to resolve issues.
  • Prepare charts, graphs, and appropriate drawings that are needed
  • Communicate with vendors when needed for initial quotes and any technical issues
  • Travel to customer locations to assist in field commissioning activities
  • Assist with the preparation of Operation and Maintenance manuals


  • BS in Mechanical Engineering and/or applicable work experience
  • 3+ years of experience working with thermal processing equipment and related components

This position requires travel throughout New England. Occasional long distance and overnight travel will be required. Transportation to customer facilities is provided by Noble Industrial Furnace.

Hours of operation are 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Background check and drug testing is mandatory for full time employment.

Pay: negotiable, depending on experience and employment/contract status
